When iPad was launched back in 2010, there wasn’t much of an answer to it. And all the big competitors could only wish of doing something as great as iPad. But i guess Microsoft had its own plans since then.
Microsoft has launched the new ‘Surface’ family of tablet PC’s. Its not one thing that you can use. It is a family of products for the use of any generation. Its just like pick what you want from the family of products. Currently Microsoft surface has two products with different functionalities for you.
Here is a number of things that Surface Microsoft offers which may be its edge as compared to Apple’s iPad:
KeyBoard:
Keyboard was always a frustrating thing with iPad. Youth mostly would like a sweeper but the older generation tends to use the keyboard more frequently. The Microsoft surface has it both. You can slide or sweep or you can simply attach a keyboard which acts as a cover too. The keyboard is also a mouse touchpad.
Surface by Microsoft comes with two types of keyboards.
- Surface type cover
- Surface touch cover
Both are multi-touch keyboards and offer more buttons like the modern track pad and keys for windows style UI.
Whats best with the keyboard is, when combined with the surface it is about 12mm and it is also used as a cover for the Surface Microsoft.
Versatility:
Microsoft’s Surface isn’t just a simple tablet PC. It runs Windows 8 and it really does work when it comes to heavy work. It not only runs songs for you or do web browsing. It can run powerful and heavy softwares like Adobe Photoshop or you can play heavy games on it. Windows 8 Pro Surface comes with Core i5 processor and internal memory of 128 Gigabytes which runs just about anything you can wish for.
USB Ports:
Both versions of the Surface come with two USB ports (2.0 on the RT and a faster 3.0 on the Windows Pro). The lack of ports has been one of the few persistent compaints about the iPad.
These ports open up the possibility of extra storage, printing and other external capabilities that should be easier and quicker than the workarounds iPad users need involving cloud storage, Wi-Fi connections and the like.
Size:
Surface has a much thinner and much wider display than the Apple’s iPad.
Mircosoft Surface comes with a wider display of 10.6 inches almost one inch wider than that of iPad screen. And the company says it’s optimized to have essentially the same dimensions as a movie screen: So, farewell black bars when watching video. A touch pen can be used to write on the screen of the Microsoft Surface with 600 DPI. Also the screen wont move by moving the hand on the screen because windows comes with a palm block technology.
Price:
The price for the tablet has not been given out by Microsoft as yet but experts expects a range between $500-$600 keeping a close eye on the market values of similar products from other biggies.
